Shortt’s Farm is a beautiful six acre, USDA certified organic vegetable farm located at 52 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook, CT.
Sue, Jim and their sons James and Jesse are first generation farmers who grow and sell many different types of vegetables including hard to find heirloom varieties. They also have everything you need to grow your own food with the very best bedding plants, fertilizers, and mulch for your garden. In addition to organic produce, they have farm fresh eggs, Ferris ice cream, local honey, syrup, pickles, and jams/jellies.
Check out their website Shorttsfarmandgarden.com for any changes and information regarding their CSA. The CSA has options to addon products from our local businesses, Butcher’s Best and BD Provisions. You can stop by Shortt’s farm stand May to October from 10 am to 5pm and/or visit them at the farmers market in Newtown at Fairfield Hills on Tuesdays 2:00-6:30.
There are many benefits to shopping local, the food tastes better and is more nutritious as well as collectively we are helping to create a stronger local food system as we support small farms.
